Xamarin MVP; Xamarin get more funding

Huge news for the folks at Xamarin - they recevied a second round of funding from both their original investors and some new ones (for a total of $28m raised).

Well done everyone over there! I hope there is at least some champaign flowing in Boston and San Francisco tonight[1]

And last night (well, this morning) the first list of Xamarin MVPs was announced - and I'm very happy and proud to say I'm one of them[2]. The community around the Xamarin products is second to none, from access to the people who write the products, to the helpful and friendly people in the forums, mailing lists, and stack overflow - and I'm very happy to be a part of it.

I was blown away when the whole company had an (internal) hack-a-thon, and everyone - and I mean EVERYONE from sales, docs, dev, engineering, design and management (CxO etc) - is contributing, and usually coding. This is definitly a company which is attuned to developers - because most of them are hard core developers themselves!

  1. Or this morning - it is a 24 hour, world-wide company after all! ↩︎

  2. Some people have commented on twitter that the term MVP is a bit abused by Microsoft. Having been a Microsoft MVP, and keeping an eye on the program, I agree. But I'd rather have an MVP-like program at Xamarin with a possibly poor name, than no program at all. And to be honest, I don't have a better suggestion. ↩︎
